It's still unclear just how good Carlos Triunfel will be, but one thing is certain: he's moving up in a hurry. He's played just one year in the United States and he's already reached the Class A Advanced California League. Triunfel has shown the ability to make consistent contact and most think he'll eventually develop some power and use his speed to better advantage. Defensively, he's got one of the best arms in the Minors, though there's a chance he'll eventually need to move from short over to third.

That birth date isn't a misprint. Born in 1990, he'll be just 18 next season. Despite a broken thumb that slowed him down last year, he still made the leap to the California League and handled himself exceptionally well. It will be interesting to see if the Mariners continue to push him aggressively with a bump up to Double-A or if he'll begin the year back with High Desert. Whatever the case, he's still way, way ahead of the curve.
