Spokane manager, coaches will return
Hulett, Thompson and Perez will be joined by Dayett

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane Indians and their Major League affiliate, the Texas Rangers, announced today that manager Tim Hulett, pitching coach Justin Thompson and hitting coach Josue Perez will all return to coach the Indians for the 2010 season. Hulett and his staff led Spokane to a 37-39 record last season, finishing second in the Northwest League East. Trainer Carlos Olivas and strength coach Ed Yong will also return and the Rangers will add an extra hitting coach in Brian Dayett.

With Hulett at the helm the past three seasons, the Indians have compiled a 124-107 record along with a NWL championship and Northwest League Manager of the Year honors in 2008. A former first-round Draft pick of the Chicago White Sox, Hulett has plenty of Major League experience, playing in parts of 12 seasons with the White Sox, Orioles and Cardinals. Hulett appeared in 720 Major League games, hitting .249 with 48 home runs and 220 RBIs.

The 2010 season will mark the second season in Spokane for pitching coach Justin Thompson and hitting coach Josue Perez. Thompson, the former MLB All-Star and Indians player, led the Spokane pitching staff to a 3.94 ERA, good for third in the NWL. The staff also had a league-leading 647 strikeouts. The Indians finished second in the NWL in batting with a .267 average under the guidance of Perez.

The Rangers have assigned an additional hitting coach to Spokane, Brian Dayett. Dayett has spent the past five years in the Rangers' Minor League system, serving as the Class A affiliate hitting coach in each of those seasons. Dayett played professionally for 14 seasons in both the MLB and Japan.
