TRENTON, N.J. -- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced on Thursday that Marc Rosenthal of Princeton, N.J., was the winner of the "Choose Your Champ" World Series prediction contest.

Fans of the Thunder and the cross-state Lakewood BlueClaws (Class A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies) were asked to submit predictions for the outcome of the 2009 World Series. The most accurate prediction of the winning team, number of games and World Series MVP would win an all-expense paid trip for two people to go to the Phillies or Yankees 2010 Regular Season Home Opener. Because the Yankees won the Series, the BlueClaws will be picking up the tab.

The contest received more than 1,000 entries within just 48 hours of its announcement. No contestant correctly guessed the "Yankees," "six games" and "Hideki Matsui" as MVP. As a tie-breaker, all entries that had selected the Yankees and either six games or Matsui were put into a hat and a winner was randomly selected. Video of the selection is available on the Trenton Thunder Web site and YouTube online.

"I found out about the contest through my company," said Rosenthal, who picked the Yankees to win in six games with CC Sabathia as the MVP. "I suppose it was a good guess that it happened." Rosenthal has chosen to attend N.Y. Yankees Opening Day.

"It was great to see so many people participate on short notice" added Thunder general manager, Will Smith. "Watching the Yankees win was exciting, but awarding such a great prize at the expense of the Phillies affiliate across the state was the icing on the cake."

Full- and half-season tickets, group outings and Pic-A-Plans are on sale now for Trenton's 2010 season by calling 609-394-3300, or at trentonthunder.com online. Single game tickets will go on sale to the general public on Feb. 1, 2010.
